When you make a gift to our foundation, you support programs and initiatives that allow us to improve the health and wellness of the people and communities we serve. Our priority initiatives include the areas of greatest need for our patients, ensuring that your gift can make the most significant impact on those we serve. Learn more about these initiatives and how you can support them.

Scholarships & Grants

Through the generosity of our donors, UnityPoint Health – St. Luke's Foundation is able to provide grants, awards and scholarships. These programs help further our mission to support UnityPoint Health – St. Luke's in providing the healthcare we'd like our loved ones to receive.

AbbeHealth

AbbeHealth is an affiliate of UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids and is a regional nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mental health and aging services that help individuals achieve their optimum levels of independence and success.

Because of You - Inpatient Modernization

The right environment goes a long way in helping people get better, faster. Now UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital is embarking on a $14 million modernization project to greatly improve the environment of care for our medical and surgical patients.

Cancer Care, Wellness & Support

We know cancer is not an easy journey. A cancer patient needs hope to carry them through the tough days. Hope comes from knowing they have the best care available.

Child Protection Center

A child who is a victim of abuse suffers in darkness. But with your support and care from the St. Luke's Child Protection Center (CPC), they have a promise of a better tomorrow.

Childrens Initiatives: Every Child Has a Story

Our goal is to write the happiest ending possible for each child whose life we touch. St. Luke's is the place where young patients get the special care they need, from a new life just entering the world to an abused child or a teen struggling with depression. We're here for families, too, with unique services like Eastern Iowa's only Ronald McDonald Family Room.

Dr. Rhys B. Jones Dental Health Center

It shouldn't hurt to smile. But many of the low income and special needs patients of the Dr. Rhys B. Jones Dental Health Center (DHC) are living with chronic mouth pain. Many have never been to a dentist.

Diabetes & Kidney Fund

Made possible by the generosity of donors, the Diabetes and Kidney Fund has been established to provide financial assistance to all eligible patients who have chronic kidney disease stage III - advanced and/or diabetes.

Heart Care Services

Congratulations! to the 2023 recipients of the automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and Stop the Bleed trauma first aid kits, distributed through St. Luke's Heart Saver Program.

Hospice Care

Facing the end-of-life can be a very overwhelming and challenging time for a family and their loved one. UnityPoint Hospice is here to help families embrace life through these times and provide dignity, hope and comfort for their loved ones during their end-of-life journey.

Baby Commemorative Wall

A baby's birth is an exciting event, and at St. Luke's Hospital we're proud to be part of the miracle in your life. To celebrate the moment of your child's, grandchild's or special loved one's arrival, we're offering commemorative tiles on the "I'm a St. Luke's Baby" Wall located in the atrium of the Center for Women's & Children's Health.

Opportunity Fund

When you support the Opportunity Fund, you empower the Foundation to help St. Luke's Hospital expand its integrated healthcare delivery system, investing in technology, expertise and equipment.

Rural Healthcare

Medical emergencies can be especially frightening for residents of rural communities. They often rely on volunteer First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians to have the critical training and up-to-date equipment to stabilize their condition so they can be safely transported to a hospital.

Transitional Care Center

Our goals are to help you get the care you need and return you to your home. That is why we are expanding our footprint on the Northeast side of Cedar Rapids near Council Street and Tower Terrace by building a new skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

Accelerating Our Impact

The greatest and most exciting opportunities do not typically happen according to schedule. Gifts designated to the Area of Greatest Need provide UnityPoint Health – St. Luke's Foundation leaders with the versatility to allocate resources where and when they are needed most. Similar gifts have helped purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology, improved our physical campus and supported community projects.

When you give to UnityPoint Health and designate your support to the area of greatest need, your unrestricted gift is instrumental in helping us provide the high-quality care that our patients have come to expect while allowing us to react quickly to the emerging needs of health care.
